Contemporary painter Christopher M. continues his quest to paint our universal love affair with food. In his most recent work titled, “Chefs dans L’Harmonie” (translation: Chefs in Harmony), the artist chooses a different perspective, a different color pallet and displays his artistic dexterity as he captures these culinary masters in the moment of genius.
In keeping with his Culinary Collection of works, Christopher M. renders a clean, modern behind-the-scenes glimpse at the art of cooking. Each chef has a valued place in the kitchen’s hierarchy as dictated by the classical French cooking Brigade system (Brigade de cuisine). In turn, each chef has a particular rank and specialty. They work in unison and with great precision to create culinary masterpieces intended to delight all the senses. The proud history and tradition of this organization has prevailed for nearly a century and has endured in modern kitchens today. It is the highest form of the culinary arts and like any fine art, it takes years to master.
Christopher M. intentionally mixes his own salad of artistic reverie using a crisp palette of celery green, sage, raspberry, pumpkin, eggplant and ice blue as he depicts the orchestration that must take place in the kitchen to skillfully prepare a meal that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.
“Chefs dans L’Harmonie” is a celebration of the culinary arts. And like any art worth celebrating, it satisfies our appetite for delicious beauty. Bon appetite!
